Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applications are welcome from candidates worldwide.
  • The life sciences must pique their curiosity.
  • Furthermore, candidates require a foundation in biomedical or biological sciences, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and computer science.
  • A bachelor’s degree that entitles candidates to admission to the University of Basel’s PhD program must be held or soon to be obtained. The standard level for this degree is Master’s (MSc or equivalent).
  • Having their fellowship, highly qualified students having bachelor’s degrees from non-Bologna systems may be eligible for the University of Basel’s accelerated Master’s program.
  • Candidates cannot be registered as Ph.D. students at the University of Basel, nor should they have signed a Ph.D. working contract with the institution to be eligible for the fellowship.
  • Every chosen candidate will be required to research at the Biozentrum in at least two labs (rotations).

 

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Master’s degree certificates in electronic form, along with graded transcripts in PDF format.
  • A one-page scientific résumé in PDF format or curriculum vitae (CV).
  • Contact information for two referees, usually faculty members from previous academic backgrounds. (These references will be contacted automatically and asked to write letters of recommendation for the candidates.)
